M.B.T. Multipurpose Boarding Tower
The MBT Multipurpose Boarding Tower is an innovative multi-purpose tower for boarding and disembarking passengers from cruise liners using lifts. This solution has recently been patented by Abacoingegneria Treviso s.r.l. and Venezia Terminal Passeggeri S.p.a. in the partnership V.T.P. Engineering.
The tower is actually operational at the cruise port of Venice, terminal 117.
Abacoingegneria together with VTPEngineering has invented the concept, has been in charge of the project management and construction supervision.
VTPEngineering’s M.B.T. project originates from a functional deficiencies analysis of current boarding gangways. By taking a look at sector trends, we see that recently launched ships or those currently being engineered tend to embark at progressively higher levels and with an ever-increasing passenger capacity.
Through its lift, MBT activates a direct connection between Ship – Terminal – Dock, opening up new functionalities both for passengers and for the terminal’s operators.
‘Multipurpose’ refers to the possibility of creating multiple routes, while keeping logistic flow separated, and supplying the port with more services than those currently available.
